Last weekend we traveled 12 hours in my car to Pensacola Beach, Florida to celebrate my stepson’s 14th birthday. Unfortunately, there was another visitor to Florida… right off the coast- Tropical Storm Debby. This picture of Ava was taken about an hour before we had to leave to make the very long 12 hour drive home.
We had high winds, lots of dark clouds and rain the entire weekend. We got to see The Weather Channel’s Jim Cantore filming on the beach and reporting the weather conditions from Tropical Storm Debby. My stepson actually got on TV- LOL!
We stayed at The Holiday Inn Beachfront Resort in Pensacola Beach. The hotel was amazing! Click HERE to see pictures and read more about the hotel. They had the best pool area in Pensacola Beach with a lazy river, waterfalls and poolside bar. The beach with beautiful white sand was just steps from the resort and The Holiday Inn Beachfront Resort had lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. The hotel also has a pirate (who wasn’t there during our stay) and a mermaid that come and entertain the kids each day. The mermaid wasn’t able to swim with the kids due to the weather, so she did mermaid makeovers and taught the kids a mermaid dance. Ava was thrilled.
The resort is very family-0riented and Matt and I are hoping to plan another trip possibly in August before school starts back up again. I can’t wait to go back and enjoy the beach this time!
